Human Dignity, Health Care, and the Holocaust - A Presentation
Throughout the world, we are fighting battles over human rights, access to health care, the rights of the patient to make autonomous decisions, mental health care, structural and institutional racism, unethical medical experimentation, equity of care, and the regulation of rapidly advancing medical technologies through medical genetics. At the core of these issues are two fundamental concepts that are theoretically well-intentioned but practically difficult to apply: human dignity and mercy. Using the Holocaust as the historical lens through which we examine contemporary issues in society provides a reminder of the absolute necessity of understanding our history as members of humankind and learning from the mistakes of our past. Join us this Mercy Week for a Facebook Live Stream event exploring the relevance of these concepts for modern society. Dr. Stacy Gallin, Director of the Center for Human Dignity in Bioethics, Health, and the Holocaust at Misericordia University, will present, with questions and answers to follow. If you cannot attend the presentation in person, please feel free to join us via the live stream presentation online: https://www.facebook.com/events/942033182836086/
